My finger is tired from clicking ,my eyes red from reading. Help Had the thread

once now can't find again. I know my truck has the built in tac sensor and the wiring is hear somewere. I have found a female plug with four wires two white with purple stripe two red/orange with stripe. This plug is right by the parking brake re-lease. Is this were I would plug into for a tac Install?

Thanks In Advance

Nope, that I believe is the reader port for the PCM.

The tach hookup is almost directly behind the light switch and up pretty close to the middle of the dash. FSM shows the colors paychk mentioned but that is not always whats there. Mine has 2 black, 1 green, 1 gray. One black one is the ground, the other black one is the switched 12 volt source, green is the accessory lighting, and the gray is the signal wire.

All that said, if it works great. It it doesn't then there may be a problem with the harness/PCM. Mine doesn't. Still trying to figure out it its the tach or the harness.

Good luck.

I found the connector, It looks like mine has 2 black wires 1 orange or red, and 1 gray.

Well will have to buy the tach next month and try it out.

Close; it is the "ROLLS TEST CONNECTOR (IN PLANT USE ONLY)" other words it is the test port for the anti-lock brakes, used by the factory.

PS Had to look it up, curiosity don't ya know :)

PSS The PCM data link port is on the fire wall under the hood passenger side.

I find that one is orage, two are black and one is grey w/lt blue tracer. The FSM lists one of the black as red if I'm not mistaken. Very easy hook-up point for the tach.

Not sure what model year they installed this connector... ... 91. 5 perhaps??? My truck is a early 92 and it has this feature. My truck was built in Mexico, June, 1991 The window sticker/decal that I still have says 1992 model year. I'm also told I "should have" had the 18. 5 cm2 NOT the 21, but who really cares.

IMHO, 'fore too long you'll have a truck built in December 2005 for the 07 model year... . dumb I say. I think the 06 trucks are on the road... ... ... NOW! (???)

Scratch the green wire, its orange and hooks to green wire in the tach harness for the lights. I tapped it for the lights in all the gauges so it dims with the dash lights.

Now if the blasted tach would work..... :(

Not quite time for the 06 models yet, August should be the new model delivery.

Some 91. 5 models had the tach plug, some didn't. Had to use up the old parts before using the new I guess.
