Tach for 89?

I want a tach for my '89. anyone figured a way to use a gasoline engine tach, or do I have to get one of the alternator driven tachs?

I used an Isspro tach that runs off two magnets on the crank pulley. Easy to install and haven't had a problem in over a year of use.

Where'd you get it? The local speedo shop has one that mounts a sensor to the engine by drilling and tapping a hole so that it senses gear teeth. I like your idea better.

I got all of my gauges through Diesel Injection Service in Texas. http://www.dieselpage.com/ They have really good prices and are extremely 'user' friendly.

Chrysler: Dodge Ram Diesel Tach Retrofit Kit. Part # 82201051 You must change the Dampner Pulley to a '91 or later for the pickup to work correctly. Very easy to install (some wiring is already there) and reasonably priced.
