Ford E450 class c rv conversion??

Fun idea?

Is there any way I can use my stock tach in my 87 chevy on my cummins engine conversion. I used the gm alternator could I use that like dodge did? I realy like to now what rpms im running? I have been driving it sence June and if I stay at 65 mph or less I get 25 mpg. I would love to now what the engine is turnning.

I used the Nippon Denso (Dodge) alternator. My local rebuilder put a chip regulator inside the alternator plus a "W" termainal wire. I merely had to hook one heavy duty charge cable, one field wire and hook the "W" wire to my tachometer input, which plugged into my GM alternator.

My tach works perfect.

1993 Chevy 4x4 12V Cummins, NV4500.

Your mileage is beyond fantastic. My best is 18. 5 with 4:10s measured over 1000 miles. My towing 10K or less is 17. 5 and 12K loads and above about 13. All measured at 1000 miles or more for average.

25MPG?

I can dream. If I got that I'd park my little daily driver cars/pickup and drive my Chevy 100% of the time.

Beyond awesome mileage.

well I wish I could take credit but when I purchesed the truck it had a blown 6. 2 n/a diesel with a th400 transmission and a g/v overdrive. I replased the 6. 2 with a 5. 9 cummins and the th400 with a reman. nv4500. It was not as bad as i thout it would be! I stell say the most defacult thing was putting the clutch pedel hanger ass. in the truck that did't come with one. If you go to my readers rig youl see what im talking about.
