Can someone shed any light on this ?- Two people I know have had their tach`s go to zero and they shut the truck off when they got to where they were going and the truck would not start-what`s up? they were towed to the dealer and waala! they did some THING to them and they cranked right up thanx:confused:

CPS

That sounds like a crankshaft position sensor problem. Mine never died, but the tach would jump around or go to zero and then the truck would "miss. " It's the first thing that I would check with this sort of problem. I think you can buy a new one from cummins for about 20 bucks.

Another Symptom...

Another symptom of losing crankshaft position sensor is ECM goes into limp mode with a noticeable loss of power. had mine going bad on my 2000 2500.
