tach hookup?

One type that will work is one driven by alternator pulses. That's what I have. You'll need to remove the rear cover and attach a lead to one of the rectifiers.

Another type is one that requires a sensor to be attached (glued) to the outside of the alternator.

Another requires a sensor to be attached and read the harmonic balancer.



So there are a few choices. They all work.

I just got done connecting my tach to the alternator this last weekend.

Works great and only cost was 5 feet of wire.

If you get the pickup for the harmonic balancer, it will be around 70 dollars.

In either case you will need a tach that will read the pulses per engine revolution.
 
I got the sensor for the h-balancer for around $40 shipped to me a few years ago. Had magnets to glue onto the h-balancer for the sender to read. Worked just fine, and I still ahve the sensor and wiring.
