I own a 92 D250 oil burner and when i popped the dash off to find the plug there was no plug to be found . Is there any other way to hook up my tach because the directions that came with it only show install on a gas vehicle.

That sucker can be hard to find sometimes. :-laf

Dig around in the harness to the left of the steering column under the dash and look for a light gray plug that does not have a connection, 2 or 3 wires. Sometimes they are taped up to the existing harness and require a little coaxing to see the light of day. :)

Should be 3 or 4 wires in the plug, it's a flat plug. If the instructions only show for a gas vehicle, are you sure it will work? Gasser tachs work differently than diesel tachs.

BLACK plug, taped to the wire bundle coming into the fuse panel. Up under the dash, 'bout halfway between the steering column and headlight switch, and back 4-5".

There will be 4 wires in a flat arrangement- black, orange, black, and grey. Grey is signal, orange is dimmer, one black is 12v ign, other black is ground.

I've heard of guys setting some tachs to 4cyl mode and working just fine. Others had to get a diesel specific tach.

Good luck.

thank you . On more thing there's a plug labeled "OD" switch . Is this for an overdrive setup or what . By the way I drive a standerd transmission.
