Tach. Malfunction

Hope its an easy fix... . My reading at idle should read 750rpm. Sometimes it's down to 200, 350,600 and so forth... My banks interface will always read correct at idle and all other rpms. Sensor not problem because the computer is also reading correct with a scanner plugged in. Sometimes it will all the sudden jump to normal. little help... .

Classic failure for the 06's that was caused by poor soldering. If your a very good solderer, you can remove the cluster and reflow all the solder joints to fix it.
Or you can exchange it or have one of the shops fix it that do this kind of work.

wish I would get a letter in the mail saying it was yet another piece of crap unfinished thought on the 06 models and Dodge was going to warranty them. . Mine shows to idle at 200 RPM, but for the mean time, when you bring it above idle, it appears to be reading correctly. Im sure it will completely fail soon. .

Mine doesn't even read in the number range. It swings from about the 5 o'clock position to the back side of the zero peg. Been doing this for years.

If it werent for the little 6 shooter under the hood. . this truck would have been scrapped years ago. .

Don't feel bad, my 06 is doing the same thang!!!! GRRR! About 2 years ago I noticed it wag a bit while driving to Vegas, thought it was the desert heat and I was seeing things that didn't exist. Then it got progressivly worse as time has gone by and its basically a dud with little movement if any. The heart beat monitor has givien up the ghost. I'm looking for a good repair shop up in the San Fran Bay area or Sacramento to fix it ... Its not critical , but I feel when we all pay huge amounts of cash for these rigs, its expected that this stuff works as paid for... .
