I am trying to hook up a remote start on my '02. Being that it is a 5-speed, I need to hook up the tach wire. Unfortunately, all attempts to find this wire have failed. The wire code I got from the company that made the starter was wrong, so this is what I have tried:

I pulled the instrument cluster, and there are two harnesses, one on each side. I have tried to measure the voltage coming from all the connections. I've tried DC and AC, to no avail. I have one measuring a constant 13. 5 volts, one at 11. 5 volts, one that bounces around 3-6 volts with no rhyme or reason, and a bunch that aren't putting out anything (probably lights, etc. ).

My understanding is that the tach wire would put out 1-5 volts (or something in that range), that would get higher with an increase in engine RPM.

Does anyone know which wire this would be, or how to test for it? Also, the techline for the company said I could take the reading form the alternator, but wouldn't elaborate. Anyone know of this method?

TIA
