you need to verify first that there is a wiring set up for the tach on the truck, I did a friends late 91. 5 just before they went intercooled and there was nothing I had to use the older Tach kit with all the wiring, as well as get a notched vibration dampener.

Check and see if you have the notched vibration dampener on your truck and if you have wiring above the dampener?

Non intercooled trucks had no wiring installed, also the 89,90 and early 91's did not have the notched vibration damper

Intercooled trucks came with the notched vibration damper speed sensor and complete wiring all the way back to under the dash.

Were is this plug /wire to pick up a tack signals?

I have the notch. 91.5 IC AT D-250.

Truck not here to confirm but my 1992 manual shows (and memory agrees) it's a flat, 4-pin, black connector under left side of dash...area around light switch, p brake, etc. Colors on mine are blk, orange, red, and gray/light blue from the engine controller. Not all tachs will work, but Isspro, Banks, Westach had ones that did, and you can also find crank triggered magnetic and alternator drive units.
