Two days ago when i was leaving home i pulled out on the highway and the tach fell to zero and the check engine light came on, then the tach started working again but the truck ran fine. The light went off after several times of driving. Today it did the same thing again, anybody have any idea what the problem is? Thanks

Been there... Done that.....

Tach sensor... . covered under warranty.....

It almost caused me to WRECK!!!!!!!!!

I was at a stop light... car in front of me.

All of a sudden the tach drops to 0. . check engine light comes on. .

AND THE RAM WANTS TO GO OVER THE TOP OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME!!!!!!!!!

It went to FULL THROTTLE!!!!!!!

BOTH FEET ON THE BREAKS PRESSING AS HARD AS I COULD AND SHE STILL KEPT INCHING CLOSER!!!!!!

lasted oh. . 1-2 seconds. . but they sure felt like LOOOONGGGG seconds...

Service man told me that the computer can see the loss of the tach as a sign the idle needs to come UP. . (IE about to stall) so it adds fuel.....

Get it replaced.....

COMMOM problem if you do a search here.
