Really getting confused now. After reading all the reports and positive results from using the tag, I am now getting some very negative feedback from some dealers who no longer sell the item. I am told the tag is a come-on with no beneficial gains to be had. Really want to try one to see if it will reduce the turbo bark in a customer's 97. Price is very reasonable for a try, but not cheap if there is no hope of success with the problem.

Not trying to gain boost or power. We do not need more.

Read the article in the recent Register. Also some on this site. Only negative feedback I get is from previous dealers.

Any hands-on experience?

I have one that I used for a short while with my Scotty II on my 97 I just sold. I LOVED IT! It made 30 pounds of boost sound more like 10!! It will definately be going back in on my next truck.

I can't remember if I barked my turbo or not while it was in there though? I know I have since its been out! :-laf

I never really had a problem with barking the turbo before the TAG. Tag did relieve the turbo whine from the Scotty II. The turbo whine reduction is the only reason why I bought it. It did reduce smoke a little bit.

The reduction in the turbo "whine" is one of my favorite effects of the TAG. Of course, the reduction in smoke & EGT's combined with the increase in fuel mileage are nice too :D
