Cummins Anti-Gun????

Genos Garage has “GateGlide” that uses a spring loaded tube with a cable that attaches to the tail gate as a tailgate lift assist device. A couple of years ago Trailer Life (I think) magazine had an article about the installation of a Tail Gate life assist that used Torque bars. I personally like the torque bar type better.

I recently found that “Plug it right” (Plug It Right) sells “Tailgate Easylift” that uses torque bars as a method of tailgate lift assist. Has anybody used this product and has any experience with it good or bad? Installation problems etc.

Mat you have fair winds and following seas

Thank for your input

I bought one right after I saw that Trailer Life article and installed it on my 01 2500. I love it, it really does make the tailgate feel like it weighs about 5 pounds and closing it is effortless. Installation is not hard at all, you just need to drill 2 holes and have another person available to help remove and reinstall the tailgate. A third person to guide the rod into the hole would be nice but not absolutely necessary. It could be a little inconvenient if for some reason you need to remove the tailgate quite often.

I put on the EasyLift a couple of years ago. It seems much simpler than the springs and cables, and tubes... There is nothing to squeak, rattle, break, etc. And... It adds an element of theft deterrent to the tailgate. That is because it takes of bit of wrestling to get the tailgate and the torsion spring and the two holes lined up; especially if you're trying not to scratch the paint. I strongly recommend having an assistant help you with the install.

For 35 bucks it really should be standard equipment.

I love the look of surprise on people's face when I as them to lift the tailgate. They can't believe how easy it is.

recieved my Easylift the other day, now wait untill the weather warms up a little bit to install it. A week ago it was -14* ( thats correct 14 degrees BELOW zero) now it it about 37* still a little cold for me to work in the garage.

Thanks guys for the information

I was just looking at the 2010 info. They come with them on them. It made me wounder if a tail gate is to heavy to lift, how are you going to lift any thing in to it? But then you can't have to many goodies.

I have an easylift on the 06. It's great. Since I have a camper top, the tail gate is opened and closed about as much as the driver door. The gate is quite heavy and this is one of my favorite mods. It is a bear to install by yourself. A second person it very helpful.
