Does anyone know if a tailgate lock is available for a 2005 Dodge 4x4 pickup ? Also is there manual or automatic locking hubs available for this model with an American Axle front differential ? Would this result in a fuel savings not driving the front diff all the time ? Thanks.

search for "pop and lock" and "power lock" for the tail gate

search for "solid axle", "dynatrac", and "ems offroad" for the locking hubs... . they are all manual locking hubs.

I'm running the Dynatrac freespin kit. I ponied up for the Dynaloc hubs as opposed to the warns. Much shorter profile. As far as mpg gains go, I think there is something just not sure how much. I never loged any thing prior to install. The front axle u-joints went bad so I did everything at once including ball joints. My most accurate fuel log was a drive from KeyWest to CA. Towing a u-haul trailer I averaged 16. 12 mpg.

I would recommend the Bully Tailgate lock. Looks OEM and works as well as a lock and key can. Simple install.

Just install a hose clamp on the right side pin hinge.

Why would you want locking hubs? I don't believe fuel mileage is significant. Besides, who want to get out in the mud to lock hubs anyway?

The Pop-Lock would probably deter an unmotivated 10 year old from getting in the back of your truck... find something more sturdy if you are keeping something valuable in your bed.

As far as the hubs I picked up a soldi 1mpg but the main reasons I installed them was for the better/serviceable wheel bearings and to eliminate my high speed front drive line vibration caused by my lift. I read alot about failed wheel bearings and axle universal joints here. Since i run heavy tires I believe this was a upgrade worth making. And I am still young enough to make the arduous trip outside to lock the hubs.

Why do you say that? I have one and granted, it allows for a lot of flex in the handle. But I think it would keep it locked, even if someone broke the handle/ lever.

I agree, I'm happy with mine. At least it keeps honest people honest.

In addition I have a hose clamp on the right hinge.
