Got a Bully tailgate lock off eBay several months ago, just got around to installing it. Decent piece, paid $12 for it, well made and seems to lock the tailgate pretty well. Pretty easy install, removed the tailgate panel, released the clips holding the actuator rods on, then took off two nuts and the handle comes off. Reinstall in reverse order, seems to be made exactly like the factory but with a lock. Here is a couple pictures of it, this combined with my Lite Rider cover makes the bed somewhat secure, as the Lite Rider cover releases from the inside.

Put one on mine about 2 weeks after I got it, had on on the 2003 also. I paid $25 for mine, but it is still worth it. It should be factory. No sense in a $40,000 truck not have a lock on the tailgate.

I have the Bully one too. Paid $9. 99 on ebay over a year ago. It is great, WAY better than the POS pop&lock I threw away!

... got a question.

It looks like the tailgate opener is fixed with 2 screws. What will stop somebody who wants my tailgate from removing the 2 screws, take out the lock and take off with my tailgate? (The buggers unscrewed my scull license plate from my front and stole it... )

I have the RHINO liner and it does not effect access for the person sprayed the access panel seperately, then reinstalled after it was dry.

jscott,

The access panel is held in place with ten torx head screws. If you have a cover or a shell then it is as secure as it can get (they can always break the glass)
