Tailgate movement, rattle.

Can anyone explain why I have so much tailgate movement/rattle? The tail gate moves left and right also, and I'm worried the paint will get damaged if it makes contact to the bed.

Looks like its missing the plastic spacers that fit on the metal stubs the gate rides on

I cut some leather shims from an old shoe and glued some in each end to center it up and stop the movement. bg

The Dorman parts have terrible reviews. But I'm still missing the two other parts

That should do you. I got mine from Geno's some time back, think they were Dorman as well, but fixed the problem.

I guess I shouldn't immediately jump to the bad reviews on amazon. But did the bushing kit from Genos fit decent Joe Mc?

Temporarily I wrapped the posts with duct tap and the rattle went away

I think I might have had to trim a bit with a razor knife but can't say for sure? They've been in there for years. I rarely remove my tailgate tho. I actually think they had logo like the stuff you find in the "HELP" section in your typical auto parts stores. Take a look around.
