I would like to know if anyone has found these clips for the tailgate control rod. Everyone wants to charge abt $100 for the entire control unit when I only need one .50 cent clip! Any help would be appreciated. (see signature)

Picture of clip attached
Thanks Ted

The threads in the plastic part are stripped out and won't hold the rod. I have done a pretty good search online and haven't found anything. None of the auto parts online sites show such a clip for the Dodge tailgate. The pic is from a GM door lock rod and the Dodge tailgate rod looks just like it. Anyone have any experience with Gorilla Glue?
I'll check out the auto paint supply shop if I can find one in our area. Ted

Gorilla Glue isn't that good of glue. A good two part epoxy or JB weld are much better glues. You could fill the hole with JB Weld and once hardened drill and retap the hole.

JB Weld and redrill and retap....this is a good idea!!!
For even more strength, you could even glue a proper sized nut to the end of the plastic part with the JBWeld after you fill and drill, but before you tap, then tap through the nut into the plastic.

Guys these are for Ford and GM door locks. We're looking for Dodge here. I think I'll try to find a wrecking yard for these. Thanks for all your effort. I thought perhaps someone might know of a way to find one by itself so I wouldn't have to be a complete assembly for the 100 bucks. I haven't found anyplace that lists these for Dodge tailgates. If anyone knows perhaps the GM part might work? Ted

The GM/Ford clips may work. A couple sites had specs that were identical for the different brands. They all seem to accept a 10-24 rod and refer to an 8mm hole. See if those specs match what you are looking for. It should be easy enough to take one of the old ones from your tailgate to an auto supply store for comparison. Dorman DOR703-240 may be the one you need.

No kidding! :) thought this was the Ford /GM parts look-up website for a minute.
The Dorman part will work, I've used it. Unless you are doing a 100 point restoration and NEED a Dodge part number on it use it. (either that or write the Dodge part number on the bag if it'll make you feel all warm and fuzzy) :)

The Dorman Ford-GM clip will not work on an 07, wrong thread pattern won't hold when the handle is pulled. Time to fabricate or bite the bullet and $$

I was unable to find a clip that would work so for a couple dollars I fabricated a simple rod attachment. All parts from your local ACE Hardware store. The following pics show the result. T.

This was my solution. 10 X 24 connecting nut welded to a 5/16 X 1/2" bolt with a 5/16" lock nut and a 10 X 24 jam nut to fight vibration. Pretty easy and cheap hardware store fix that is permanent.
