After reading the latest issue of TDR, I now am a little confussed as to the results of a tow gate. The information tells me not to remove the tailgate, that the Dodge has been designed to have the best air flow with the gate up. Now the question. If that is so what is the flow results with a lovered tow style tail gate? My wifes truck has a metal , lovered gate and mine is stock. Could someone with the degree in physics tell me the answer.

I am really confussed now.

I remember it all comes down to "negative air pressure" and the need to have the T~Gate in place to create a Vorticy that acts like a buffer for air to slip over the bed. If ya notice put something relativly light and flat in the bed and go for a drive... ... somehow it justs sits there.

I am Close ???? and somewhat recalling this correctly??

No difference for me

TT, I have a louvered 5er tailgate that I leave on all the time. Between commuting to work and running the kid to the gym in another city, I log plenty of miles with no load. My mileage is the same whether I have the stock tailgate on or the 5er gate. The only difference I see is that with the 5er gate, the empty soda:D cans fly out easier than if the stocker is on.
