We have found a way to build the first spring loaded dual disc for the diesel pickup trucks!

Reasons for doing this...

1. To hold the power where a single disc falls off.

2. To resolve the problem of idle clatter and transmission/input shaft ware.

3. To help with the ease of engagement.

We are sending this prototype out to Ponci's Diesel for Brad to install in his truck. Brad is currently using our dual disc with the solid hubs. We feel he will be a perfect candidate to compare the difference between the two designs with top quality knowledge and workmanship. He will also be able to relay any information needed to make additional changes if needed. We have also selected another truck for a second unit that is a 3rd generation to do some testing. lmills/Lloyd from Mid Atlantic Diesel has installed and ran many dual disc clutches and we believe he will be able to provide valuable comparisons from the previous designs. His truck also has very good power and is currently running our CON FE on the ragged edge. The 3rd gen. trucks are very quite so this should be a good test not only for the noise but the driving mannerisms between the FE and the DD.

I am hoping for the best so we are able to tackle the awesome power that your trucks are now producing and bring to rest the concerns so many people have as to whether or not to use a DD clutch for fear of noise and transmission ware.

Looking forward to putting it thru the paces. :) I will see to it that it gets beat and thrashed about just as you want it to. :-laf

another good reason southbend is the leader in diesel performance clutches.

they take the time to listen to what the consumer wants out of there new products.

i cant wait to hear the results with theses new designs. especially lloyds

hopefully we cant get him to actually drive it hard then. :D

thanks for all of your hard work Peter.

hows the streetability expected, also does it require modifications to the drivetrain to bolt up to a NV4500?

what are we looking for it to hold HP?Tq wise?

Thanks, Jim

Looks good Peter. Glad to see you are on top of your game and staying on the Cutting edge. I may have to run over and see Brad after he gets that thing in and drives it a bit.

Maybe we could carpool! I would love to give it a spin as well!

Looks good peter! what kind of plate loads and disc options can we expect to see with this new setup?

Man, Peter, I'm up for this mod! This will be a great improvement even though the clutch is already a winner.

Now, can you do something about the rattle when the clutch is disengaged? ;)

This is fantastic. It should also minimize the possibility of transmission input shaft breakage. Now I can think about more power than the Con FE can hold :)

you will have the choice of sprung or un-sprung. Applications like the Iron Giant, will only be available un-sprung

Cant wait to install this beast and drive it. I cant say enough about how South Bend Clutch listens to the consumers and help design products. I will let you guys know how she does.
