The other day on the radio a reporter did a 5 minute take about things you find on your computer. He typed in his own name, & found his college alma mater listed. That caused him to think about an old favorite professor. He looked him up, found an address, and sent a nice glowing e-mail about how the prof had influenced his life. This e-mail was responded to by the WIDOW of said prof. She said he would have loved to have heard this, but had died some 3 months earlier. This caused me to reflect about high school & a favorite teacher of mine. I tracked him via the net, and some info from the faculty. He had retired, and moved from southern Illinois to Florida. I kept at it, and finally located an address. I wrote & waited for nearly two weeks. Today I got a letter, and he is still kicking at 76! He was amazed that I had bothered to look him up, and extremely pleased that I had wanted to do so. So, moral of story is, do it! There has to be some teacher, scoutmaster, or coach that took the time out to teach us something. Let them know we appreciate the time & effort they spent on us. BEFORE it is too late. I took 30 years to do it, don`t do the same. DK.
