REDNECKS!

Cruising Along Minding My Own Business...

It was an interesting experience. Went down the Columbia Gorge with it. Did some poking into some places I hadn't gone before.

BTW, any of you taken one anywhere?

It seemed happy enough after we'd been out a few hours, but easily scared off by overpasses (not kidding! he'd dive under the seat when we went under the first few), passing noisy trucks, and when we crossed a cattle guard at a state park.

He's still a kitten, so we're hoping that he becomes more acclimated to travel, so we can take him with us... Any advice/tips/sites/stories appreciated...

Every time I've taken a cat for a ride it's been their last one. If they aren't used to it watch out, they turn into a wild animal and will claw the hell out of you and your rig. Best to put them in a burlap sack. If anyone wants I'll explain my do it yourself at home method for neutering a cat.

Last week I took the lab pup for a ride. I let her out to go peeeeeeeee. Then put her back in the truck. I went in the store to get a belt. I came back out and open the door on the truck. There was a nice big puddle on the center counsil. Seats were dry though. I was so p-ssed. She had barried her head in the seet all the back home.

Have two cats. One loves to travel and sits on the dash and checks out the scenery. The other loses all her fur and makes noises to convince everyone in area of vehicle believe its a cat torture chamber.

He didn't claw the seats, pee on nuthin, or get wild. . By the time we got back, he seemed to enjoy sitting in my lap or the wife's watching the scenery go by.

We're hoping to get him used to travelling, so we can take him with us on vacation...

My father and brother own Gulf Shrimp boats and my brother used to take his cat with him on his boat (105 ft). Hell the cat lived on the boat. He was a built in burgular alarm. When they would come to port somewhere the cat would roam around if you let him outside but always wanted back on the boat. His favorite trick was to stalk seagulls. Until he finally caught one, and boy did the fur and feathers fly!!!!

One time my dad was watching the boats and my brother came home (they were in port in Florida). My brother was talking to my dad on the phone about what he needed to bring back in the way of equipment when he heard someone he thought scream. He asked my dad what the hell that was. My dad said that the cat had been hissing and screaming at him for a couple of days and would not let him pet him. When my brother got back to Florida, he found out why the cat was so ****** off. My dad went to the grocery store and bought dog food by mistake and had been giving it to the cat for several days!!!!!

He lived on the boat about 95% of the time and only came home over the two or three weeks at christmas each year. The first time he climbed a tree at my brothers house he went up about 10 ft and let go with his claws and fell flat on his back..... never even turned over!!!!!

We have been takng a cat with us for more than 5 years any time we are gone overnight, rides on the center seat or under the drivers seat most of the time. We have a litter pan in the back so she does her thing any time she likes. Get a lot of smiles and fingers pointing when she decides to pop up at the window. After all this time she is still scared of various noises like big trucks and air brakes.

Have two cats. One tolerates it ok and rides on center console. Other one howls and crams himself into every corner he can find. He might have heard of my previous appetite of years past. Best thing I can offer is, don't feed them before they ride until they get used to it and are comfortable. They'll puke and if you use the kitty tranquilizers, they make a horrible mess from their business end down in the corner of whatever seat they're on. Lately, they stay at the kitty Hilton when we travel. I've seen quite a few cats on the road though. No, not that... I mean in the cars and trucks traveling along. I still prefer cats over dogs. They don't slobber and you can leave them home for the weekend. When you return, they yawn and utter with dignitty, "oh, were you gone?"

I had one cat that used to like to climb in the car through the sunroof and just hang out. Her sister hated the whole concept of a car. As time went on, they really hated the car and going anywhere. It got so bad that one would get sick out of both ends.

The latest pair of geniuses dont like the whole car concept either.

Ok,male cats only. You have to do this when they are young before they start spraying otherwise they will continue with that rank habit. You stuff the cat headfirst into calf high boot with the rear end hanging out,a pillow case will also work. You then use a razor blade or utility knife, slit the sac and pop out the balls, you're done. I've done this to a dozen cats, when you release them they run 10 feet away and lick their shoulder, never know what hit 'em. No blood involved. Sure beats paying a vet.

Got 2 of the little buggers. They think the only time they ride is when the go to the vet, so I've been taking one along when I go to fuel up. He's getting used to it, sit across my lap and watches the world go by.

Mark, sorry if you can't handle it,the only thing a vet does differently is knock them out and hand you a bill.

Will you do your own vasectomy with a Leatherman and a fith of Jack Daniels?

I know they are 2 different procedures.

Bottom line:

How would you like it if someone stuffed your head in a boot and hacked off or did other surgery on your nadz without the bennefit of anesthetic?

Greig,I was thinking the same thing. I wonder how they feel about the poor little calf who get gets taken from his mother, thrown to the ground, shot full of antibiotics, his ear pierced with plastic number his butt scared with a red hot branding iron and his nuts cut off all in the period of two minutes. Guess if you don't like it you should quit eating meat, the reason that poor calf suffered is because you like eating him.

Bill, It doesn't take a country boy to realize that animal care is often the owners resposibility. Send these guys a copy of the NASCO catalog they would really have a fit.

Mark, Bill ain't sick he is informed on matters that you are not. No better or worse. . different. Throw a cover over just about any animal any they will stay almost still. I had a litter of pups years ago and one got a hold of a bone, it was Sunday... no vet... mineral oil in both ends and he was fine. Just different smarts! #ad
