I am looking for information on the road conditions ya know road work, bad roads, major construction etc... also info on where to stay in Charlotte. Looking for a reason ably priced place decent neighborhood, good food etc. . Can anybody help me its been years since I was on the Eastern seaboard. Thanks

You don't mention it, but are you taking an RV? If so, stay at any Wal-Mart or Sam's Club that is willing to let you stay over night. Do ask for permission first as some will not let you stay over night due to city ordinances. Also ask the manager for the best spot to park if you are granted permission.

If you are coming through Beaumont early you will probably be ok but there is construction from Beaumont to Vidor and the traffic backs up in the afternoon. If later in the day I would get off at Winnie and take 73 to Bridge City then 62 back to I-10. I-10 is rough from about Vinton to Sulphur then ok to Lake Charles, rough out of LC for about 50 miles. I haven' been past Baton Rouge lately, just be sure to take the I-12 exit there so you don't end up in New Oleans. bg
