What is it that we hate so much about the Taliban? Is it that they are forcing the will of a few with some bad ideas on all the rest? Then, I have found the Taliban hiding place! Yes, they're in the mountains, but not in Afganistan... they're in North Carolina!!! My fiance and I went into several nice restaurants during our week's visit and were told it is a "dry county", and that we couldnt enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail or even a glass of wine with dinner! We are not alcoholics, but while relaxing on our much-earned vacation, we were looking forward to having things our way... . but NOOOOO! Someone elses' ideas of morality and decency were FORCED upon us against our wills. With all due respect to those of you who are religeous and believe in no drinking/no smoking... . that's great! I have no quarell with you, but do it at home! Dont you DARE dictate to me how I am to lead my life. Those that do, are no different than the men we are fighting in the deserts of Afganistan. OK, I vented... . feel better now.

Look at the bright side. You do not have to visit North Carolina. Visit somewhere else that values your company (money). There have been a lot of towns that do not serve alchol as they have been bequethed a large amount of money with the dry stipulation. Good luck.

You should have went to Texas! Dont they sell beer by the can in gas stations?:D Just kidding.

I dont drink or smoke anymore, but I respect your right to make your own decision.

He!! in Texas we have beer vending Machines :D ;) :D !!!!! Not really but there are dry counties in Texas to. Correction, not so much dry counties but dry cities. They can set their own rules about where and by whom liquor and beer may be purchased. Many cities require "Private Memberships" to be able to buy liquor "by the drink" at restaurants.

Trying to understand Texas liquor laws at both the State and local level is about as hard as Chinese arithmatic ( not impossible but highly difficult). :D :D :D

In Montana they sell beer alongside pop in vending machines and there is no open container law.

I've always felt there needs to be an Eleventh Commandment-- Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself.

I respect your right to make your private decisions.

When it comes to public decisions, I respect the right of the MAJORITY.

Live with it!

When majority rule is done away with (which is happening at a rapid pace in USA), we'll all be governed by people that wield absolute control over everything we think or do - the self appointed intelligensia (Hillary, Sean Penn, Ted Kennedy, Tom Daschle, etc. !!).

What do you really want??????

WAKE UP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!

There are other people in this world besides YOU!

Wasn't it majority rule that forced some of our forefathers to flee England to America in order to practice their own religion?

Unfortunately there's still a few left. I've driven through a few of them, stopped to get gas and Beer and realize they're a dry county I then walk out without getting anything and drive to the next county where there's always a "wet" store right across that dry countys' line. I refuse to purchase gas or anything from a dry county and by myself and many others doing this, it has caused most of the dry counties to give in to popular demand.

Was it your choice to go there? Aren't you trying to dictate to them?
