hey guy's

going monday to look at a newer dodge just trying to figure out what the downfall's will be with a newer style one.

she's a w3500 auto 106k loaded beautiful truck ,,,,but why should i keep my 1st gen???????????

I'm wrestling with the same decision too. I've had my 93 W350 5 speed for over 1 1/2 years now and really like it, but I had 2 different 2nd gen gasser trucks prior to it and really do miss the rommier interior and nicer ride. The 1st gen trucks are tough, but are 100% utility and that's about all. I think the 2nd gen trucks are tough also, but are a little more refined. I do like the lockouts, large engine bay, and NP205 transfer case of the 1st gen trucks. But the P7100 pump, NV4500 and rommier interior are key points that the 2nd gen trucks have. I guess it's all what you really want the truck for. I've had some 2nd thoughts on selling mine, but my wife lets me know how rough it rides every time we go somewhere, and how she really would like a quad cab, so I've got to compromise and look for a truck she's happy with too. I'm looking for the "elusive" 98 QC 3500 4x4, 5speed dually. So far I found an auto, but no 5 speed. But I won't compromise, so I'm just waiting. I'd also like to keep the 93, but too much $ to keep it and buy a newer one. Need the $ for downpayment on a newer one. Hope I don't kick myself some day for doing it.

You really can't compare the two. Nothing wrong with the newer trucks other than the payment. That is what keeps me in my 1st Gen. 3 years without a payment is nice for the bombing funds. If I could (wanted to) swing a new vehicle payment I would be looking also. I wouldn't get a 24-valve as I feel the 96-98 12-valve are the best years with 98 standing out as far as quad cab and improved brakes. Just take your time and make sure you find what you want.
