Once and for all: Does PHORD own Cummins?

Navistar

I was just chatting with a guy that has a 1999 Cheby 2500LD with the 6. 0. He asked me what I had and when I told him he couldn't beleive it! He said "so have you had a lot of problems with the injectors and the transmission?" I told him that I thought the 727 was a great trans and that I'd never heard of anyone haveing injector problems with the Cummins. So he tells me that he know a lot of people that tow with them and have all sorts of problems. He said "they are fine if you drive them like a car, but not for towing" and then started talking about how great the D-max is because it's so quiet.

It's sad how distorted reality becomes when you get used to driving a Cheby. I'm supprised he didn't start talking about how great the 6. 2 was!

Sorry to be so long-winded but...

Talked to a guy awhile back and he was telling me how Ford owns Cummins and that for Dodge to be able to use the Cummins Dodge had to agree not to build a 4 door truck until 2004.

The misinformation out there is pretty funny yet a little scary at the same time.

Land of the lost

You're in the land of the lost when you're talking to die hard Chivy guys  If the new chivy's were powered by a Briggs and Stratton, no make that a Tecumseh these guys would still think it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I can hear it now, "Yeah, well with my new Tecumseh powered chevy I've got the all new pull start option in case I run the battery down or somethin'!" :p

As far as trannys go... talked to one of my customers today who recently bought a 8. 0 gasser with the sacred  Allison transmission in it. He's still waiting for Chevy to put another transmission in it since his has already taken a dump. Hmmmm, my poor ol' piece of crap Dodge transmission has only made it to over 100,000 miles on BOTH my trucks with a bunch more than stock power. Give me a break.
