I'm getting rid of the factory rear lift blocks with new rear leaf springs. I currently have air bags and want to keep them for hauling the cabover and landscape loads.

My current air bags will be too short by the height of the blocks and another 1-2" of the lift added by the new leaf springs.

I am thinking of either making some extension plates bolted to the frame, or better yet taller air bags to keep all that new suspension travel.

Anyone been down this road and have a solution or ideas?

The fine folks at Firestone have a tech line and an 800 number, if you find an air bag kit the number is on the box or the dealers selling them. I found these guys to be very helpful and usually will answer their phone until around 9:00 PM, if you have the measurements you need they will give you a part # and have faxed me the spec sheets on them. The spec sheets will have dimensions for ride height, max height, closed height, inflated diameter and capacity at different rates PSI, they may also recommend a different style of bag for extra travel length. I would give you the number but I have misplaced it, they also have a website. PK

Phone number for FIRESTONE is 1-800-247-4337. This is off the front cover of a several year old installation instruction. Hope this helps...

When you call Firestone, go to extension 8692, Kevin Brown. I have had several conversations with him about their airbags. I was told by other Techs there to talk to him since he is the expert.
