I am getting a noise right after I shift gears 3 to 4 and also sometimes when I have the cruise set running down the highway in 5th gear. It sounds like it is trying to slip out of gear and starts grinding, but when you let off of the throttle the sound stops and you can get back on it and it will run fine. I had the transmission out last spring and put a new mainshaft in it as the 5th gear nut came off. At that time we checked syncronizers and they seemed fine. I had the transmission out last fall as I didnt replace the clutch the first time around, and low and behold, it started slipping so bad last fall I almost couldnt drive it. Any ideas on what is happening now?

Hey, my sons driving this away at college for a few days, as I didnt make the post. Maybe its not really a "grinding" noise but more of a "chattering" type noise? I noticed something last week when I was driving it, there was a sort of "chattering" noise when shifting at low rpm. When I shifted at higher rpm's, I didnt notice it. I dont know if this is the same thing he is hearing or not, but he called me from school and said it was grinding. Any ideas?
