Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Tappet cover

On an '02 can the tappet cover gasket be replaced without pulling the VP44? This one is pouring oil.

Has no one ever done this? It's early here in Texas, so I'll be patient.

BTW, I am talking of the side engine, push rod cover.

I tried and was unable to get to the forward most bolt. Bought the gasket and was determined to accomplish the task. Mine ended up that it was leaking from the bolt behind the ECM. It was loosw and once tightend the leak stopped.
