Was gonna do mine over the net last night. I have had the 'puter less than a year and was looking forward to filing on line. I expected to log on the IRSS site, hook up a secure link, fill the form out on line and submit. WRONG! They were talking about going to some other site and paying to download tax software then send it to yet another site and they "transmit" it and so on and so on. Left me disgusted and #ad
Oh well, guess I'll do it by phone again this year #ad

I used Turbo-Tax by Quicken last year,it was offered free from my mutual funds from Vanguard. I stayed up till 2 AM before submitting the final, had to copy one page to sign and send to the IRS(this year you don't have to do this). After submitting it said 7-10 days for approval, but at about 7AM that same morning I had an email from the IRS saying my return had been approved and that the money I owed #ad
would be withdrawn from my bank account on Apr 14(you get to choose what day. )Good way to do it,I'll do the same this year.

For NM, regardless of what Turbo-Tax says, you dont need to pay for the filing and do both at the same time (state charge is 5. 95$ from TT - fed is 11. 95$). I've used TT (for last 3 yrs) since they bought out the other program I was using and like it. Bought the Deluxe edition and really didnt need to for this year. For NM I logged into their site and did the p/w and it was accepted 1 min before I sent it (time on computers different). State (NM) does have one problem - it requires a 17 digit account # and mine is only 8, so had to add leading "0's" to make up the diff. Other wise they cant dep and will send a check (happened last year). Had a talk with one of the tax persons and they are suspossed to "spell" this out better so a person knows/understands this problem. Maybe next year they will fix it (too late this year). State said I should have refund in 3-4 work days and IRS said about 2-9-01 for the refund - not holdig breath, tho (auto-dep). Last year the state was mailed (due to acct# prob) and had it 3 days after filing on the net and IRS was about 8 days after filing.

Only problem this year was getting the accounts info (interest/etc) but used the net to get it and that let me file early. Soooo, if we could get the voting "fixed" (a friend is trying to convince elected officials to use a "barcode" method - looks and is easy, even for "dummies" and "challanged" persons) we should be in a betta country!!

Awaitng the "BomBing" $$'s to come in... ...

For the past 4 years now, I've been filing my tax return through the internet at Securetax.com. Last year they were bought out by Turbo Tax, so I used them. It is incredibly easy, walks you right through the form - I file the 1040 long form. It costs $15 to print, electronic filing is free. It takes about 14 days to receive my return. Here's the address: http://www.turbotax.com/turbotaxweb/welcome.html?SRC=turbot12

If my wife reads this, she'll want me to get ours done. Dangitall Ben.

Oops, too late. What silencer ring? (More fun than my 98 SST)

After Ben brought this up I decided maybe it was time to see what was going on,went back to Turbo Tax online that I used last year and only had to click a few spots to fill my form out the same as last year. Now as soon as all my numbers come in I just have to enter them in and I'm done,it's almost too easy.
