Please excuse the following rant.

Driving without wearing a seat belt is illegal. I get it.

Driving drunk is illegal. I get it.

Do I really have to continue to see my tax dollars spent advertising the fact that these activities are illegal? Every time I see a billboard, TV commercial, internet ad, radio commercial, pamphlet, newspaper ad, etc. , talking about how illegal these things are, all I can think about is, "how much money did I **** away on that campaign?" (I'm talking about the taxpayer-funded advertising, not the charity-funded variety - I have no right to dictate where charities like MADD spend their money).

Why don't we see massive ad campaigns about murder being illegal? Or bank robbery? Or purse snatching?

It's like it's not enough to make these things illegal, we also have to spend millions (billions?) reminding people that they're illegal.
