TC alloy?

Does anyone know what alloy the New Prosses transfer cases are made of? More importantly, is is weldable?

WOW!!! :--) I have no clue what grade the material is. But you can weld a transmission case so why not a transfer case?

If it's 6061 it's weldable. If it's 7075 it's not.

I never found out what alloy the cases are but they welded nicely. I used a 3/16" 5052 patch and welded it with 4043 filler rod. It flowed great. I was worried about the seal on the shift selector shaft. Had to keep quenching but it turned out OK.
