I just installed a triple gauge mount and Autometer gauges this last week and had the fore site to add a green 12v LED in the pod for monitoring the Torque Converter lock-up. I saw a couple Power-strokes at Muncie with this feature. The only problem is I have not figured out how to wire it up properly yet.

I have a test wire through firewall. My first choice was to tap the Orange w/black tracer in the PCM Connector 2 as labeled in my Service manual, but this wire is hot when the engine is running. What wire can we get the TC lock-up signal from.

That wire is pulled high-12 volts - until the computer grounds it to lock up the converter. It is pulled high thru the trans circuit.

Just a warning , there are two wires that are orange with the black tracer. Make sure it goes to the pin 11 of the center plug.

You should be aware that if there is a groung on that wire the TCC may not be locked. That indicates that the solenoid has pulled. If the hydraulic conditions are not right it will not lock. For an unmodifed transmission it probably will be locked if there is a ground on that wire.

Fox,

Yes, I removed my Air filter housing and pulled the Connector #2 to make sure I had pin #11, but after a cycle of the key. My meter showed it going hot for a second or two and then dead, must be for a diagnostic check, and then hot again when the rattler is started. I may have to wire in an additional solid state relay that pulls in when the PCM grounds circuit so I can get the TC lock -up signal to my LED. I just what to monitor with the LED so I know when it is locked up for future diagnostics. Like if my TPS needs cleaning, and the transmission starts to act erratic.

I have 55k now and never cleaned it, and sounds like its a popular thing to do when the transmission starts to jump around. I won't get around to wiring this up until this holiday weekend so please keep the info flowing for me.
