I have something I'm hoping will help others with their trucks. The past two yrs I have had the TC lock and unlock for no apparent reason... . but only does it when it rains. Dry outside?no problems. I have the ATS Co_pilot so I can manually lock at will. I started there and found no wiring problems, had a new transmission installed back in June and the new one does it also... . so that was not it. I just gave up and dealt with it and was going to have my mechanic go over it the next time in for service.

I was coming home this evening from a side job and it was raining and due to my shortcomings with this truck and rain,I was expecting trouble. Naturally it did it and as always,it got on my nerves. I mmean it will turn my Co-Pilot off and on also at times. I can't even drive with the Co-Pilot off!!It started to rain really hard and I bumped the wipers up to high... ... I usually always use delay wipers. Low and behold, the convertor locked and stayed locked UNTIL I turned the delay wipers on again. As long as I do NOT use delay wipers, everything works normal.

Can anyone explain this one??

No idea why the wipers have an affect, but the TC lock issue is a ground problem and there is a PERMANENT fix. I'll have to go look for it, but its around here somewhere! :)

Wow, thats a first, you must have the delay wiper/tc lock option... Its not hard to fix. Suncoast has a apps ground wire mod described below for free or filters are available to get rid of the noise that is causing the problems. If you cut the black with a yellow trace wire coming from the apps and ground each side to the battery with heat shrink and solder connections (best conductivity possible) this should solve your problem. Or don't use delay wipers! If you cannot do it I am in Va and would be more than willing to help. Based on your sig you are mechanically adept tho;)

Oh no believe me,I have had my fair share of problems involving the ATS transmission. I finally bought a Goerend and that clearly ended my dilemna with auto trannies. I have read about locking and unlocking issues before but never heard of it only when the delay wipers are on. I will try that Suncoast kit and see if it solves my problem.

Well I can top yours and raise you a dollar. I have trouble with my TC unlocking only when I tow my 5th wheel trailer and only around 55-60 MPH, and only in OD. I does not cycle, it just unlocks until I let up on the throttle to relock it. And I have a DTT Smart Controller.

BUT, I am going to be watching my wipers next time out!

There is a fix which bypasses the ECM on the side of the engine with a lead taped off of the ECM on the fire wall . The problem is some kind of false signal on the TPS lead from the ECM on the wall down to the ECM on the engine which the bypass over comes . Call Sun Coast they have the details I sent them from the transmission rebuilders assocation. web site. Please dont not ask me for the link my trans shop pulled up the info and applied the fix to my truck.
