Installing Manual Trans Filter?

In my 1999 TDC. 3:54, auto, the torque converter shutters while towing at low RPMs. I keep the RPMs up as much as possible (OD off) but was wondering if there was a way to cut the lockup feature of the TC of to prevent the shutter, witout messing up the computer

There is a wire that goes from the PCM to the TC and if cut will prevent TC lockup at all. Instead of just cutting it you should put a switch in it so that when the switch is in one direction the TC will not lock and when it is in the other direction the PCM will have control of the TC locking or not. I'll have to look at my service manual this evening to find out the wire color and location, if nobody beats me to it :)

I'll get the wire color and post it when I get home this evening.

i think that there is...

I remember Bill, and Stef K saying something about something they got that does this. Shoot them an e-mail and when they get back from Texas, then they should answer.

Wire

The wire you want is in C2 at pin 11 on the PCM. It is an orange wire with a black stripe. If memory serves, there are three connectors on the PCM, the one you want is the center one.

Call Bill K. at www.dieseltrans.com as he is the expert and can give you better information.

Good Luck,

Mike

My 99 with the same gears and trans does exactly the same thing!! Is this a normal condition or will a reflash correct the problem? If so, what is the proper flash # for this? I just want to know if it is a problem or the nature of the beast

Thanks
