I have a question concerning TC slippage. When under load, a noticable sound comes from the transmission when the TC locks up in OD. Load is either light (empty, heavy throttle) or heavy (10k of trailer, part throttle). This does not occur if I back off the throttle right before the TC locks up and doesn't occur in 3rd gear either.

I've heard 2 things. Just the torque converter clutch locking up. Pads slapping, something like that. Don't remember who told me that one. Someone from a local shop here said turbo back pressure, air slapping the impellers. Said I needed a turbo pop-off valve (is that the right terminology??). Anyhow, that's all I know, I like the first one better. I haven't noticed mine doing it since I put on the tst box. Been paying to much attention to the egt gauge, and everyone in my way.

Sounds like the turbo bark so many of us have - even us six speed guys. Relax, it's normal but of course it's better if you can keep it from doing this. I have to be careful climbing hills and down shifting to 5th while towing. Can't be between 60 and 65 when I do it.
