HELLO

I have been off the board for a while. so you are Gonna see a few posts by me for the next few days.

I drove from WA state to FLA in FEB pulling my 30 ft toy hauler.

I was having power issues could not make more that 30 lbs of boost and just did not have the same pulling ability as I once had and the dreaded lock and unlock while under load as well as getting the CEL light the code was P0253

truck trailer cargo = 18000 lbs un lock and unlock at this weight at 65 mph. gets your attention. this was very intermittent and only at more that 27 lbs of boost. Once down here in FLA after dropping the trailer the TC un Lock /lock back up was getting more frequent to the point it was causing me great heartache during normal driving. #@$%!

long story short. I read a post on tdr that this is one symptom of a failing APPS. so I figured I would go with TIMBO and his super APPS that he sells.

after talking to him he also suggested the suncoast converters APPS ground modification as part of this repair. while I had the bellcrank and APPS apart I soliderd the tap wire on the COMP and ran the ground from the COMP to the Battery. I put it all back together and I love My truck again. Oo. I can make 42 LBS of boost "AGAIN" no more codes, and this stopped all TC Unlock and Lock back up problems dead in the tracks the beast runs Like it did 5 years ago. :-laf

Special thanks to TIMBO

special thanks to Suncoast converters

both took the time to talk with me and walk me thru this repair.

any questions please ask.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the link. . I have seen that before but forgot about it. I am wondering what the benefit is for moving the ground like that. Possibly eliminating the electrical noise from the harness. I am wondering if this is the same wire that the DTT electrical noise filter is spliced into along the firewall and this is Suncoasts way of doing it without the filter?

I do not have the answer to your question.

This fix worked for me but time will tell.
as I said before both
TIMBO from here on tdr
and
Suncoast converters were awesome to work with.

A MatsonIII

I just found a nice clean bolt holding the steering assembly inside the cab and under the dash. I checked continuity to another part of the dash frame assembly. I soldered all the connections to the crimpons.

hope that helps.
