It was bugging me so bad that I pulled over one day and borrowed an elastic hair tie from my daughter and looped it around the shift lever to a screw under the dash. That was six years ago, it's still there with no rattle.

There is a piece of spring steel under the truck on the T-case that pushes the lever over to prevent the rattle, just bend it so it applies more pressure and that will take care of it.

I used a short bunggie cord, works great.

There's a TSB if you want to look it up. I just never bothered once my high tech fix was in place.

The solution for this may be VERY simple. I had James (inarush) do a full DTT setup on my transmission a couple of months ago, and I told him about it. When he was under the truck he noticed that there is a little plastic "guide" that is clipped into the floorboard and it had came loose. Just a simple little click back into place, the noise is gone!

Check that item. its accessable from under the truck, and I'm sure you could get it from inside the truck if you wanted to pull everything out of the way.

The original TSB showed how to go under the truck and use a pry bar to bend a tab out 1/8". This helped a little until I started BOMBing. As the power has gone up so as the rattle.

Now they have a new TSB Lynnwood Dodge guys told me about. They have a complete kit that is supposed to fix it. Dont know what in it. Have not ordered it. I have the PN at home and will update this thread this evening.

I have also heard of people taking and mounting a carburator or exhaust spring underneath the truck. Attach it to the lever and then attach it to the frame or sutable point to provide additional tension. -- I think you can find a PN for the spring Joe D. mentions on Fritz's site.

Well, I got under the truck and bent the tab over a bit. It stopped the rattle except on heavy throttle. Going to put one of those high tech bungy straps on for now.
