Howdy folks,

Just wanted to throw some intel out there - I just finished installing a TCI 13" converter in my 93 CTD, and all I can say is "wow!" Big difference, took away nearly all of the sloppy feeling I had before. Used to feel like I threw out an anchor going up hills, but now it holds just like it has a real clutch. Granted it's not a DTT 'verter, but at $348 new from Summit Racing it's just right.

The pn# is 142250. Summit was out of stock, so they had TCI drop ship one directly to me for $10 bucks more. Not bad, and took only 7 hours to install.

Converter gulped about 4 quarts of fluid, and the transmission took about 4, then we filled the rest on start-up. No problems, and what a difference - the rpmometer actually climbs up and down a bit now! Very simple to unbolt transmission and lines - helps to have an engine and transmission jack, and a lift.

The TCI unit looks exactly like the stocker, but is a new piece and although it didn't really drop the rpm at speed, the stall that is required is much improved, and the rig actually gets out of its own way - feels good. Will report back after a few hundred highway miles if gas mileage improves.

Thanks to y'all that helped me on this swap - I've been asking lots of questions and y'all have been dead on - thanks again!

Sam,

I'm glad you like it... ... it is pretty amazing how much HP/throttle response is being left on the table, so to speak, with the stock setups.

I too was blown away by how much more responsive my truck was, not to mention feeling alot more like a stick transmission when getting on the throttle... Yaa Baby !!
