Missing Subforum "Build Up"?

I realize I'm not like most I don't own a computer or even have a phone on the wall. All I have is my iPhone and although the mobile version works fine for me on text I cannot for the life of me load a pic in a thread. I usually end up going to the library to get pics in which is to say inconvenient.

Every time I load a pic to photobucket then try to link I always get a file too large error. I can load the same pic to a pc then to photobucket then to TDR With no editing. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. And don't tell me to get a pc. ;)

TIA and keep up the great work,

Neal

Oh and were the ... . can I find the smily page? I have that one memorized

Have you tried running the website just as a window with full data?

As in allow all pics to be seen in a Safari window. Thats how I run TDR and never had an issue.

Tapatalk would help all users of mobile devices. It's a no brainer to install, and folks on the two forums I administer love it. And yes, you can easily upload images.

Tapatalk will not cost TDR a penny. Users pay a tiny fee to download the app. But you can then use the app for all forums that have Tapatalk installed.

Cool! Good luck with the VBulletin upgrade. I just went through a lot hair pulling and inventing new words while trying to fix an old out of date, and corrupted install. Ended up just converting over to another forum software. Less pain, and more gain.

I am currently working on upgrading to the latest release of vB which will have direct mobile app support.

Does that forum software have classifieds you can actually shop? Try as I might I can not get my head around this new set up. I've read the tutorial twice, maybe that means I'm not too bright!

We just use one board on the forum for Classifieds. TDR has too many sub boards, which makes it a total bear to navigate.

I think the tendency is for forum owners to add way too many boards and sub boards. Some of the most interesting forums I've been part of had just a few boards or categories, and folks just posted away. Seems to work just fine.

What we've found with classifieds is no matter what we do with them some will love them and some will hate them. We've tried many different solutions for the classifieds with the same results. If we put them all in one forum people will complain that they don't want to see 1st gen or 3rd gen ads if they have a 2nd gen, if we seperate them out people will complain about not being able to see them all in one place, etc. I thought the separate classifieds software we used was great - even allowed you to save searches so it would email you when something was posted - but we got lots of complaints on that because it wasn't in the forums. Seems we can't win here.

@Nyoest, I'm not sure how to explain it I guess. The classifeds are no different than any of the other forums on the site. Go to the classifeds - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/classified-ads/ - if your interested in 2nd gen stuff just click on the "1994 - 2002 (2nd Generation) Ads" forum and then you'll see a list of forums for drivetrain/non drivetrain/accessories, etc - just click on the forum you want to see. Or right on the classifieds page under "1994 - 2002 (2nd Generation) Ads" you'll see the sub forums listed there and you can click on the subforums themselves and go straight there.

We came up with this format based on the feedback we'd gotten on our previous classifieds sections.

There is no way to satisfy the masses. This I know first hand. You guys do a bang up job, that is the reason I pay for this site. They are plenty of free ones and yet I'm HAPPY to pay my dues.

My nit to pick is the billion categories Second gen engine/drivetrain, second gen non engine drivetrain, second gen accesories... ... I'm a member but most of my friends and family are not. Any givin day I'm looking for first gen stock rims, a good deal on a p pump core and a bumper for an '05. I know there is a way to search the classifieds but it has never been fruitful for me. I just don't look. Haven't in a long time.

Tapatalk

Steve,I just joined Tapatalk and could not find TDR listed. Is there any chance that you will be letting TDR be part of Tapatalk. I am a member of multiple forums like TDR and Tapatalk is a way for me to keep them all organized in one place. I think this would be beneficial for the membership. Has anyone else used Tapatalk and could they please offer some feedback.

Thanks

Mike

I used tapatalk a few times. I don't care for it personally. I just don't like change.

Since I synchd my phone and got an upgrade on the OS I don't have any of the issues I did previously. It asks me for a resize before it sends the pics now. Happy as a clam.

I have Tapatalk (iPhone) for a couple forums I browse. Makes it a lot easier to navigate the forums, rather than the full site. I think it would benefit TDR since the explosion of Smart Phones over the last few years.

In the mean time if you look down at the lower left of any forum screen you'll see a drop down that allows to select the skin you want to use. There is a PDA specific skin which I designed just for smartphone use.

Thanks James for posting. I was hopIng that Tapatalk could be part of TDR. Have not tried it yet but it makes sense to have all these forums in one place to be able to better manage them. Have not heard from Steve yet to see what his input is.

Thanks for the skin for the smartphones Steve... much better experience when I am away from the lap top!
