My experience with chat rooms is that they usually degenerate into arguments or political rants. I can do without that sort of thing so I don't even consider participating in them anymore.

I agree with Joe. Another thing is that there is usually 4 or 5 conversations going o at once and it's confusing to sort out who is talking to who.

I know this may sound dumb, but how about a live chat room (kind of like AOL's Instant messenger) where member can get together and talk about what ever comes to mind. Or better yet have periodic discussions with product vendors or manufactures (Cummins techs/engineers, Holset, Bosch, New Venture, Dana, all the various engine power enhancment makers, etc). I thought this would be a great way to get information "straight from the horses mouth".

I'm not sure how hard it would be to set up a TDR chat room or how difficlt it would be to get participation form the manufactures or vendors, but I thought it would be a great addition to the TDR website.

Just thought I'd throw the idea out there and see what other's opinions are.

1TuffRam,
This was tried once before with the TST chat room. Don't think it met with much success.

One thing you could do is to download ICQ. If you have it active on your computer, and any TDR member who has it active on his computer, and each of you are listed on each others contact list, you will be notified by ICQ that a member of your contact list is on line. You can then request a chat from the other member and type back and forth. It works really good, and not hard to set up.

To download the software check out this site,

I knew about those cause i check 'em out however I was thinking of a General TDR thang (sidebar post chat) or just another "live area" within the TDR. (btw how do your meetings possibly work?)

I have found out that the GLTDR chat is 99% senseless banter.
The 1% of HIGH QUALITY INFORMATION is when I am there, enlightening the poor souls on my adventures who have nothing else to do but tell storys, and harass Steve St Laureant, and lie in wait for the unsuspecting Duramax victim.

I don't think it's such a bad idea. Depending on how hard they are to make... you could have a chat room for 24 valve, 12 valve, and 1st gens. I think it could also get some non members intrested in the site as well if there was a live chat room. Just a thought.

LOL@MGM, yeah right!!!
I would like to have a TDR chat room, it is nice to get to know the others a little better and some good info could be shared.

Kpayne, Any word as to how it's goin? Of course many people have their split decisions about the subject However I think it is a good idea especially if you are able to catch a member online and do not have to play "post-Tag" Let's see... . freedom of speach--ish
