My son just bought a 92 DC W250. He called the other night and sounded down about something. Turned out the truck was giving him problems. The Alternator quit, the OD override didn't work, and the AC didn't work. All were working when he bought the truck a week ago.

Told him to give me a little time to look at the manual and see what I could find but in the meantime, told him to check the 60 pin connector on the firewall cause some of you guys have had trouble with poor connection.

The phone rang about 5 minutes later and it was him telling me that the plug was loose and when he put it back everything cleared up.

Once again TDR helped fix a problem and save some money! :)

Gotta love the TDR!! Just recently member Dfeland saved me around $400 by helping me with info to fix a leaking T-case. Bill

Well, hate to say it but I'm bringing this one back to the top for some input from anyone that has had this problem.

The truck was fine all week then when the boy was headed here for the weekend it did it again. He took the firewall plug back out, wiggled wires and checked alt plug. It started working again when he restarted the truck.

Did it again yesterday, I found the crank postition sensor unplugged ( we had been working on stuff) and that got it going again. (I'm surprised the truck even ran!)

He left here this afternoon headed home and about an hour into the trip it did it again. The plug on the firewall didn't seem to be the problem, wiggled wires, etc, nothing seemed to work. Turned the truck off and then restarted, was fine. Any suggestions or ideas?

I'm going to look in my manual again and will do a search to see if I can find anything. All help appreciated!:( :)

Paccool, have him check to see if there is any dieelectric grease in that plug. I have found that if it is dry, it will overheat and loose contact. Another thing to look for is the body ground from the neg side of the battery.

Good luck

Dave

Thanks Dave,

That is the kind of stuff I'm looking for. I have passed it on to him to try. So far it could be the ignition switch, the 60 pin plug at the firewall (Dry, loose plug, loose wire or??) or the crank position sensor.

We'll see what he finds.

Stan
