Now that the PDA/Phone line has been blurred and Web 2. 0 is the standard on wireless devices that are Html browser equiped 3g and REV-A phones can we look again at another "Lite" version of the TDR? I can surf and post no problem with my dare but it sure would be easier on a wap mirror no? most browser phones can display the site as it is meant to be seen ... but in a 3"X2" screen can be rough when you have only a touch screen and now that touchscreens are almost mainstream is it worth a revisit?

Do you mean a fancier pda version? There is a pda version that's formatted just for pda/cell phone screens. It's automatic on most browsers but you can manually select it at the bottom of any page as well.

I guess that is what I am getting at. If we could throw a linked "Icon" say at the top of the page for easy access for touchscreen phones and fat fingers??? Kinda wild how many carriers have wireless bandwidth that rivals DSL.

What kind of phone are you using? I'm using an HTC Touch (a Verizon XV6900 actually but it's made by HTC) running Windows Mobile 6. 1 and on both IE and Opera 9. 5 Beta the drop down menu for the skin changes to the PDA version no problem although I actually run the full graphics version most of the time as the speeds on my PDA are over 1mb/sec and Opera mobile does a great job of formatting the page to fit on the screen (when you zoom into it). I'll talk to Robin about whether she wants to put a PDA link closer to the top, it wouldn't be hard to do.

I have a Dare and the UI on just about all of Verizon's phones (Except windows CE and Smartphone) use a combined software developed package from LG and Motorola. Their HTML browser is Java enabled and media enabled but auto execute is not written in the program.

I was looking at the HTC but have had two CE phones go belly up on me in the past (2 different phones too) So after doing alot of homework the dare is where it is at because it has ota software update capability and with Google coming on strong a better browser is not too far away.

The iPhone is detected as a "phone". I can't view images inline in posts. that's annoying. it's fast tho, that's a good thing.

I don't see where I can turn this off for my iPhone, i'd like the same version I'm using on a normal desktop on the phone.

The TDR views exactly as you see it now on my LG Dare. Problem is is that with all the extra links (Member names , last post, page number rollout) it makes it tough to navigate by touch. I can do so if I zoom th epage but that kinda makes for alot of scrolling. If I could access the PDA style of the forums then it would be great but again with no auto menu execute it makes it tough.

That is the way mine works. I have the Verizon/LG VX10000 (the one with the touch screen front and full "QWERTY" keyboard inside). I love the phone! It even has stereo speakers kinda like a miniature television.

But, I agree with "ToolManTimTaylor" that all the hyperlinks, avatars, ads, and sub menus are hard to navigate and see on the small screens.

Whats is nice with the voyager is that you have a keyboard with a nav pad (arrows) My wifes voyager makes it a lil easier than my dare but the dare is 3x faster.

Is that the "name for my LG VX10000?

I don't know what the "name" of mine is, just the LG model. It has the touch screen on the front and another nice screen inside, stereo speakers to the side of the screen inside and the full "QWERTY" keyboard with the numbers across the top row, just like a computer. I like this phone much more than anything else I tried, including PDAs, and other "smart phones" I looked at. I have had several LG phones and they always get passed on to other people when I get a new one. I have the extended battery, OEM LG belt clip (the Verizon, made in China version is CHEESIE!) and the touch screen protector.

We need a forum about cell phones and technology discussion!

If I go to TDR Roundtable - Powered by vBulletin it works good without the "lite" version on my HTC Touch. However, if I go to the home page, I can't get anywhere. The menus at the top that normall drop down submenu's won't do anything. So the only way for me to get to the forums is to type in the direct URL.

-- EDIT-- Just found that if I go to the home page with Opera instead of IE it works just fine.
