Finally a member!!

I Wanna Move

Do to restructuring at work, my position was eliminated!

Some of you guys know me, most don't.

I worked for an investment advisory firm that managed peoples money. I organized & maintained their Advent portfolio accounting system. I also traded mutual funds & stocks & also provided some telephone based client services. New software has substantially changed that particular work & task environment. I've been employed in the mutual fund industry for over 15 years.

But I do have 'other' skills such as a strong back & a very strong CTD, which as you guys already know can pull or haul a great deal. I'm also capable of horse transport etc. .

I'm located 30 minutes west of Denver, Colorado.

If any TDR members in the Denver area know of some employment opportunties, I would definately appreciate an email.

Thanks guys!

Sorry to hear about your job loss. Unfortunately, I live in MA, so I can't help with a position. It seems that around hear, many job cuts and re-structuring are occuring. Companies grew way to fast and extended too far.

Good luck with your search

I cant help ya either sorry. So whats the hot funds? I did good with a couple Janus funds, but got "spanked" the last few months before selling.

I'm very aware of all the losses that occurred in some of the Janus Funds. Timing was very very important there. HUGE inflows of money as a result of some of their funds earning as high as 75% returns crippled them. If they don't close the fund to new money (new investors) after a certain point... , well its like trying to navigate a tanker thru port instead of a speed boat... its very difficult. I've seen this at Berger Funds when I worked there also. One PM did so badly (after very good results) with all the new money coming in, his returns went from the best to the worst & was subsequently fired. (To keep him quiet, he did receive a couple of million dollars bonus!)

I'm currently looking into the FMI Funds. Reportly the PM there outperformed the S&P 500 index consecutively since 1997--thats no small feat! I'm NOT endorsing them but it sounds like they certainly warrant a very close examination of where you might want to invest. Not only are historical results important, do not over look the basic background (education & qualifications) of the PM's of a particular fund. i. e. Are only CFA's running the show? Or are they Harvard MBA's that also majored in Economics etc. . There are some extremely intelligent people out there but there are also some not. Do they have a pool of research analysts to work with or are they trying to do it alone? All this info is readily available in the annual & quarterly reports etc. . One must also ascertain how they obtain their fees & if they are actually managing efficiently (compare expense ratios) to get a clearer picture. Its not exactly hard logical science but there are ways to hedge your bets. Thats why some call it "legalized gambling"! "Its only insider info if you get caught" Where do I put my money? I don't have to worry about that since I don't have any!!!

Be careful...

Mike (just a little guy on the totem pole)

Mike... if you need some contact information for some headhunters just let me know. I have one guy in particular whom has helped me out of a couple of jams... .

I'd be glad to pass the info your way.
