Off Roading Tire chains

Competition Need a spool

I spent most of Thanksgiving glued to the Discovery Channel, watching Monster Garage churn out a season's worth of Frankensteins in one day. Between the NASCAR fans cranking out a 200MPH street sweeper and the dweebs failing as they tried to turn a DeLorean into a hovercraft I got to wondering if there was a place on Monster Garage for the Dodge Ram diesels. The membership of this list could certainly provide a champion design and fabrication team, but what modifications could be done to the 2500/3500 diesel that would be both cool as S#%^ and keep the interest of Jesse James?

I came up with two possibilities: One is a Diesel Assault Vehicle, an idea I got when Photoshopping the . 50 Cals onto my truck. It could be modified to include a few tennis ball/spud guns, battering rams and the like, but is that enough? The other idea was to turn a 2500/3500 into a "James Bond" car, complete with devices that drop tire spikes, an oil slick, lay down a smoke screen, perhaps a rear gun and, of course, an ejector seat. I believe a 4X4 could be modified into a 4X2 that uses the transfer case to power all the toys. Those are about 5 minutes of ideas, so I'm sure people who have been around the CTD for 10+ years could think of other ideas.

If your project is successful each member of the team gets a nice Mac tool set worth $3400 (and a Monster Garage CD. An "MVP" gets some nice extras, as well.

Here's the link to get on the show, but I'd also love to hear some ideas here. And even though I wouldn't even be a bench warmer on a TDR team I'd love to see it happen:

Get TDR on Monster Garage

It would be cool if they used a Dodge truck in the show and modified it somehow, but the show has really gone down hill since the begining, half the time if Jesse is not interested, he is not even there. The two show that stick out in my mind where the Bronco they converted to a rock crawler with about $20K woth of "freebies" and then Jesse destroyed it for no reason, then the El Camino that was a pretty rare nice car, for what they did to it they could have started with a junker, how much of a challenge was it to convert it to a figure 8 race car? The early shows were the best, like the trash collecting Expedition and the lawn mowing Mustang.

I watched some of those shows

Untill I saw Monster Garage I had never seen the legendary Jesse James. He is just a little strange in my book. The easiest thing to do with the Diesel would be the smoke screan, but you have some good ideas. Good Luck getting on

I agree, but for a $3400 Mac tool set I'd appear on a Romper Room reunion, especially if I got to cut, torch and smash things, and didn't have to get covered in tatoos. I also think `ol Jesse needs to have a sit down with some real rednecks, not the California kind...

#1 I really don't want to see Jessie "hack up" a perfectly good CTD.

#2 $3400 wont go very far in a MAC tool truck.

Whatever!

just one problem...

problem is that a team only get $3000. 00 for money to complete the project.....

if theres a TDR team they will fail for sure cuase they'll spend it all on bombs and there wont be no cash for the rest of the project. :-laf

That's being pessimistic. I'd like to think that Genos and all the other sponsors would kick in about $15K worth of freebies--nothing, zero, nada. But I agree that the truck would have to be BOMBed. For what it's worth, I went ahead and filled out the form on their page, suggesting tha they use a Dodge CTD in a project (converting it to a James Bond spy car) and pointing them to the TDR for team members. I bet a TDR team could end up being one of the best groups of people they have had on the show, as long as the TDR team could decide on which performance box to install...

Ram Tattoo

I for one have got a Dodge Ram emblem tattoo on my arm and would like to participate in this group therapy. Crunch said it right, if the group doesn't have to decide on a transmission or box we would be good to go. I am a Plastics Engineer and would enjoy some time out of the office to get dirty and have some fun.

Maybe we could talk Jessie into building a custom chopper with a small Turbo Diesel and overfuel it for a smoke competition.

I don't think you can talk Jesse into anything. He is one talented PITA that I would never want to work with.

I saw the Delorean episode and he was hacking on Delorean for having a company that failed. I found that amusing as I thought I heard Jesse was doing TV to save his company. While I respect the talent the individual sucks and he doesn't deserve to hack up a Ram.

Monster Idea

My wife wants a Mini Cooper S, I told her it could fit in the back of the truck if we had a long box. Then I thought that would be a good monster project. A matching long box CTD and Mini Copper S with matching racing stripes and a ramp that unfolds so the car can drive into the bed.

mac tools

if ya want mac tools just go by some stanley tools and save ya the time and money. it is the same thing. as for jessie he is getting weak i do not think he will treat are ctd with the respect it deserves. now maybe the guys over at orange county choppers can do something. they use the ctd every day.

Mini Cooper

You must have missed the episode where they converted a Mini into a snow machine. It worked, but barely. Went about 15mph on the snow.

On the amount that they can spend - they are up to $5000 with only one freebie, but in reality, they don't care about the money any more, and they can get more than one freebie as well. At the end of the show they do a "cost totals" deal where they tell you the parts cost, vehicle cost, and total of those 2 numbers.

I agree that Jesse is running out of interest in this show. He's clearly bored with it. I guess he's running out of good ideas.

This chopper is definately up there in the coolness factor, though. The Mustang lawn mower sticks out in my mind as well. How about the Chevy Suburban "Ultimate Tailgating Rig. "

I bet the $3400 of Mac tools is just what they show in the beginning of each show where you see the top of the toolbox with the set of sockets, a hammer, and vice grips. :D (Sorry if anyone here works for Mac tools. )

A good show to watch, though, is Orance County Choppers. The Tuttles are one interesting bunch, and that Snap On bike was  Oo. Does OCC have a CTD? I thought it was a 1500 or 2500 Hemi? I know the transporter is a Freightliner FL112 with the RV conversion. I'd like to see Cummins ask for a bike to be built :D

Well I don't rate my chances of getting on TV to high, and to be honest 3400 in MAC tools wont fill a 20" tool box. But I think the ole Cummins would make a hell of a mosquito fogger, and you could use a 4x4 with large tires so it could go everywhere.

Use Red Green's ideas

Lets see-- K-car becomes car-becue. two Escorts become ''Hummer''. Lawnmower becomes coffee grinder/coffee maker. K-car becomes Zamboni ice machine.

And if ya get bored with that-- Racing Chainsaws:--)

I wonder what mods could be made on the sewage sucker? It has a DT 466

I like that trike! Probably the coolest thing I've heard of them doing.

I was kind of p----- about the rock crawl bronco. To take a beautiful, vintage machine and hack it apart is criminal. Then all the freebies, custom axles alone are to expensive for my taste. I would have liked to see them use the stock axles or wrecking yard parts like most people do.
