I spent most of Thanksgiving glued to the Discovery Channel, watching Monster Garage churn out a season's worth of Frankensteins in one day. Between the NASCAR fans cranking out a 200MPH street sweeper and the dweebs failing as they tried to turn a DeLorean into a hovercraft I got to wondering if there was a place on Monster Garage for the Dodge Ram diesels. The membership of this list could certainly provide a champion design and fabrication team, but what modifications could be done to the 2500/3500 diesel that would be both cool as S#%^ and keep the interest of Jesse James?
I came up with two possibilities: One is a Diesel Assault Vehicle, an idea I got when Photoshopping the . 50 Cals onto my truck. It could be modified to include a few tennis ball/spud guns, battering rams and the like, but is that enough? The other idea was to turn a 2500/3500 into a "James Bond" car, complete with devices that drop tire spikes, an oil slick, lay down a smoke screen, perhaps a rear gun and, of course, an ejector seat. I believe a 4X4 could be modified into a 4X2 that uses the transfer case to power all the toys. Those are about 5 minutes of ideas, so I'm sure people who have been around the CTD for 10+ years could think of other ideas.
If your project is successful each member of the team gets a nice Mac tool set worth $3400 (and a Monster Garage CD. An "MVP" gets some nice extras, as well.
Here's the link to get on the show, but I'd also love to hear some ideas here. And even though I wouldn't even be a bench warmer on a TDR team I'd love to see it happen:
Get TDR on Monster Garage
