Yes, but they now have the TDR lite format. If the avatars are too much couldn't the dial uppers use that?

I don't see anything on the server indicative of any kind of slow periods. For the last 3 days there have only been 9 5 minute windows where the load was over 50% and only by a little bit at that. There could be slow downs if traffic goes up in the near term as we are still only running on 1 server while I'm evaluating new hardware. This next step is a major leap and I'm making sure that we're taking the right step. We'll be running on a "server farm" and will be able to expand capacity by simply slapping another server on. Any one server will be able to fail completely with no loss of service as well.

Steve, if I'm on the main forums page and click the arrow for the latest post, that's when it is slow, other than that, everything else zips along... :confused:

I have been one of the free-loaders for a week or so and I have to say sorry, but now I am a paying member. You guys give good info and I am proud to be a member now. I have not noticed any slowness but I don't know how it was before "the crash"

Avatars add a significant amount of bandwidth usage - more than I would have thought. They also cause an additional administrative headache in what's allowed or not allowed - where is the line crossed, etc. In the end it's up to Robin and Robert.

Check your bulk mail folder. Here is a line from the log file where your emails are being sent (and received):

My ISP spam trap catches e-mails from TDR members. I had two in there this morning when I checked the trap contents.

The server was just loafing along all night. I've been on it for hours and it's working fine here. Try doing a tracert the next time it's slow for you:

Start->programs->accessories->command prompt

at the C> prompt type:

tracert www.turbodieselregister.com

Look for asterisks along the route. Anything before globalcompass.com is on the backbone between you and the server. Let me know what you find.

That's telling you for at least that trip to the server everything was running smooth. Each of those lines is the different routers that your packets are traveling through to and from the server. The times listed (milliseconds) are how long it took to get through there. All yours look good. You will see asterisks in place of times if packets are being dropped along the way.
