Hey Guys;



Have a question on what to and not to post. I posted on 2nd gen section and stated a price for a product I was quoted on from a company. After that, was doing some reading and noticed other folks wouldn't state what they were quoted for other products.



So is it better to refer people on this site to the company I recieved the quote from? Does it depend upon If I am "getting a deal" or my quote is a standard price?



Just curious. Seems kind of nit-picky, but would like to ensure I post correctly. Figure if I p*** anyone off, would rather do it intentionally!

From my experience (and I'm not a moderator), if the price you put in the thread is legitimate, then post it! I had a good experience with this... a business tried to quote me a certain price for a product that had been offered to someone else for significantly less... they honored the lower price when I called them on it.



Bottom line is that a legit place should honor the price, unless it's a genuine "brother-in-law" offer, at which point, I wouldn't make it known.

I had the same question as you and the conclusion I came to (not "official") is that it should be OK to pass along specific prices and sources as general and helpful information where you do not personally gain from such a transaction. The rules indicate that you are not to post for the purpose of "soliciting" sales... . which seems to indicate an attempt to advertise specifically for yourself, or the manufacturer or retailer of a product in which you would profit financially. I appreciate information on prices and supply sources from experienced and knowledgeable members of the TDR. FWIW
