looking for a turbo that will fullfill some needs? single turbo. no surging, no barking, quick, towable, and driveable. i am at approx. 425 hp, w/ one more tune left to go up on the downloader (PPEexcellerator). would like around 525-550 hp. i have some parts that are ready to install, but am waiting for the cabbage ($$$) to buy a turbo. these are the parts i have : ind. inj. 60 hp injector nozzles, stage 1 ' bag of parts for my cp3, and ats manifold. knowing what i have for a set-up, does anyone recomend any 1 turbo more than another? i was thinking of a htb2 64/13 killerb2..... head studs will be ordered, possibly a snows - water/meth kit.

62/14

does it run high egt's? also, what is the amount of hp gain you've found using it? what do you think of the 64/13? think i will have surging problems? thanks guys... ... ... .....

b2000, I do have to watch EGT's when towing, like everyone should. Till it gets up and starts doing its thing, it will have higher EGT's then the stocker did. Haven't researched the 64/13. Overall when towing around 27-35k #'s out this way, if I keep the TST box at say... 3/1 I have to get the RPM's down around 17-1800 before the EGT's get high ( 1400*). I am contemplating putting one on the first gen also. With stock sticks and almost 10k miles on the air and fuel filters, it did make the 551/ 1008 in 95* heat.

reasons....

the reason i was asking was because i had heard that the smaller turbo w/ bigger housing (14cm) would run a little hot, i had heard that the 64/13 was their (htb2) way of having the potential for greater power without the surging and heat. i dont want that non driveability (surging, egts. , the famous bark, etc. ) yo hoot is running a 62/13 which i had also seen before, wonder if that helps with the egts. cool, all the input helps, when making the right decision. my truck might be back to towing in the end, with my other lil' projects, so towability is important too! peace

Htt is a great turbo choice. For an auto that tows I would say 62/65/13ss. If you expect a little more power than a 64/65/13ss. The 62/71/13ss is a great wheel too, but a little slower to spool. I would say that a 62/71/13ss and 64/65/13ss are probably going to spool very similiar. The 71 wheel will pull harder on top end and lower drive pressures than the 65 wheel. They say at 1800 rpms towing, the 65 wheels has better manners. I have the 64/65/13ss and it is awesome, but I do have a manual trans. Tac

i run twins on my 06 but i am very happy know with my silver 62/14 from Industrial Injection on my 98. i had very slow spool and when i changed to the right gearing i was amazed at spool up. the turbo will shoot up with egts at first but comes down right after i taper out in speed. i am at about the same horsepower you are and i know the 12 valve is defferent but i belive for a single turbo towing and street it doesn't get any better than the silver. i will max at 1300 egts and that is towing a 26k trailer. they are very controllable and will go up almost any hill at less than 1200 without droping below 4th gear. i have not had alot of experiance with other turbos in a single configuration. the bigger exahust outlet seems to help cool on the top end alot. on take off with my trailer onto the interstate i reach 1250 getting to 75 and tapers down to about 1000 on level ground, overall i have ben very happy with the silver. plus the polished housing looks good. hope this helps
