"Dear Lord; help Big MAK get more fuel and better traction"! Repeat this in your prayer's every night!

Reasonably happy for a first run though. It'll get dialed in!

Thanks for the vid Justin!

Dang all that momentum and it stopped so fast...

I felt my clutch let go at the end; and this vid confirms it. See those rear tires just plain stop turning like I hit the brakes? Time to give Peter a call. I had the power; clutch didn't hold it.

The sled had you stopped anyways.

What was that launch all about?

What clutch are you running? It looks like it held to me (are you sure on that one?)

I have a year and a half of hooks on my 3850 and I am pulling like stupid...

BM, you dumped the clutch instead of just dragging it out a bit. If you need to upgrade to a new clutch then next time slip the clutch a bit more on your take off.

The slow time to get to the launch or the hard launch? Was going for all the momentum I could muster I knew that sled was going to hit hard. Still sorting out what works better for this truck... the ease into it approach or build and take-off.

It took me a while to get to the line because I was ONE THOUSAND pounds overweight. I offered to drive nekid but they opted to take off the tailgate instead. :D

Had to strip all the weights and Saturday night I was taking everything off the truck I could. First weigh in for that rig so I had no idea... I was telling them I needed an early weigh in Satuday morning so at the line I told them "I told you so". ;)

I dumped it after I felt it slip and wasn't moving. No way I get that weight moving again after it stops that far down the track... not -trying- to break stuff! Running a SBC DD 3850; it holds fantastic I was surprised it slipped at the end but then again maybe that's better then breaking something else. Some spin and drag would have been nice when there was that much momentum.

I slipped it as much as I dared already; but maybe you noticed.

Mark,

What gear? rpm?

Mark, the reasons your tires stopped turning is that your clutch holding and the sled just plain put the hurt on your engine by dragging down the rpm's.

I guess it could have slipped once the sled stopped you. But the clutch didnt end your pull. The sled did.

4lo and redlined. Must get more RPM! I'm pretty sure the sled is always what ends the pull no matter what! Good observation on the engine getting drug down. I'll try to sort that out. Next pull I'll try and get more info from the gauges mid track... this time... tbh... I didn't even look (/gasp) once I passed about 50' and had the boost building and the clutch was holding.

What trans gear were you in?

3rd?

BTW, I bought the input shaft for my DD setup at IRP... I wanted to take the whole kit home, but I guess I didn't think to bring $2000+ in cash to the racepark...

Its awesome to see more 3rd gens pulling, and hope to join you guys soon!

If you would have been able to watch others go before you, you would have seen quite a few trucks (dodges) get snuffed out very quick when the sled hit. you were not the only one! I don't think you clutch had anything wrong with it.

Auto pullers do great.

But there is only one place I would get an auto pulling transmission done and that is Haisley Machine.

PM if you want more info.
