Diesel Fuel/Water separators such as FASS/Airdog remove water, first in a filter designed to remove water, and and then remove other contaminents in a second filter before the fuel is passed on to the OE filter, or if there is no OE filter, directly to the injectors.

With respect to water in diesel fuel, what is the effect of diesel fuel additives such as 'Howes Diesel Fuel Conditioner' and other products which encapsulate the water and presumably, pass it through the water filter and then the contaminate filter and on to the injectors?

The question is whether the use of a diesel fuel additive, when there are efficient water filters in the fuel system, is beneficial to injectors, or not?

Does the use of a diesel fuel additive defeat the purpose of the water separator/filter?
