Any body get stuck in this??

Laptop Stand

I currently am using the Tekonsha Voyager trailer brake unit and have been thinking about changing to the Prodigy... ? Has anyone been in this same spot? Any great words of wisdom to point me in the right path? Is it worth it?

I had the Voyager before I bought my Prodigy. Difference is like Night & Day. With the Prodigy you do not get the jerky stops, very smooth, easy to use and adjust and has a brake boost (3 settings). You will love it.

I concur

We had a Valley, I'm going to step out and say it sounds compareable to the Voyager. Yep, it works(ed) fine. I too thought for a while about the prodigy. If it was to be done over I'd do less thinking. What a world of diference. I'm now only sorry I didn't get the prodigy first. Guess that is the cost of learning

If you are willing to pay for REALLY smooth brakes, consider the BrakeSmart. Pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Once ya buy the Prodigy, you will be suprised how much more control it gives you.

When I installed and used mine, I scrapped the old one pronto!!

The new Fords come out with the Tekonsha brake control . This has the same features of the Prodigy and is mounted in a practical place in the dash. This shows the popularity of this unit.

This is an interesting thread! I, also, was debating whether to buy the Voyager or Prodigy. Finally called Tekonsha and the woman there recommended the Voyager because of it's simple, reliable construction. She even said the Voyager was the one she got for her parents RV. So, I bought 2 of them ('03 and '91. 5). They seem to work fine. But, after reading all of these "positive" reply's, I wonder if I didn't make a mistake. Twice! Joe F. (Buffalo).

Love my Prodigy

I had a non proportional Drawtite controller that was terrible. Switched to Prodigy and now I don't have to:

Change sensitivy as ambient temperature changes

Change sensitivity when traverling from freeway to in town

I can apply brakes without being thrown thru windshield or in some cases I had no brakes!

I've had mine for some 35k miles and enjoy it.

Ditto! The Prodigy is worlds above the old "pendulum" type controllers. It doesn't have to be mounted perfectly level and the control made it feel like I was pulling a new trailer! Absolutely worth it, IMO. Don't get burned at over $200 though. Check at Camping World. Sometimes they're on sale for about $120ish.

Even better than a camping supply place, see if there is a wholesale trailer parts house in your area... I got my dad's prodigy with the plugin dodge harness for $103!

My Voyager worked fine with my small open trailer (about 1,500 lbs empty) Unfortunately, it was jerky with my new 32 foot enclosed trailer (about 6,000 lbs empty) Switched to Prodigy and gave the Voyager to my brother for his small trailer.

Count me as an extremely dissatisfied ex-Voyager owner and now an extemely satisfied Prodigy owner. I can't believe they're from the same company. Definitely get the Prodigy over the Voyager. No comparison.

No more locking up the trailer brakes while going through the People's Republic Of Boulder. Although, it was always fun to draw more attention to our "environmentally un-friendly" diesel truck. :-laf That was in our '01. 5. Now this 3rd gen doesn't get as many dirty looks, being quieter and no "stink".
