I've had one for over a year, but I noticed recently the only way to make it actually WORK is to advance the level control like four turns past level. Otherwise, the Power leds never light and you never, ever feel the trailer brakes actually working.

Does this happen on all of 'em or do I have a bad unit?

Mine , and the last two that I've had work great. Make sure that when you calibrate it that you are hooked to trailer and fully loaded, except for the wireing harness. If you calibrate it empty then hook up to trailer the rear of the truck settles and can cause the problem you have. MY 00. 002¢

Had one do the same thing. The pendlum came off. I could hear it rattling around inside and I opened it up to see what was wrong. If I had it to do over I would send it back, I think they would make it good.
